How to grow a fortune tree

How to grow a fortune tree

1. Breeding conditions

1. Soil: This plant prefers acidic soil with good drainage and containing humus from rotten branches and leaves.

2. Light: It is shade-tolerant and sunlight-loving, and has strong adaptability. However, long-term exposure to shade will cause the branches to be thinner, the petioles to droop, and the leaves to turn green. It likes warmth and is not cold-resistant, and its suitable growth temperature is 18℃-30℃.

3. Watering: Water once every 3-5 days in summer, and once every 5-10 days in spring and autumn. In winter, it depends on the indoor temperature, and it is best to keep the soil in the pot slightly moist.

4. Fertilization: Under normal circumstances, if the soil is fertile enough, there is no need to fertilize much. If you have been raising it for a long time, you can consider applying a small amount of thin fertilizer. Do not apply concentrated fertilizer. Fertilizer can be mixed with rotten leaves into the soil. Remember to use thin fertilizer.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Sowing: Wait until the fruit is ripe, then knock open the ripe fruit, take out the seeds and sow them. You can choose plain sand for sowing, the sowing depth is 3-4 cm, water it thoroughly after sowing, and control the temperature at 25℃-30℃. It will usually germinate in about 7 days. When the seedlings grow to 3-5 leaves, they can be moved to pots for planting.

2. Cuttings: The survival rate of cuttings is relatively high. It can be carried out in Hua'an area all year round. It is recommended to be carried out in the north from May to August. Choose the top branches for cuttings, insert them into plain sand, water them thoroughly, cover them with plastic wrap, control the temperature at 25℃-28℃, pay attention to avoid shade, and they will take root in 15 days.

3. Pest and disease control

1. If you find that the epidermis of the stem turns black or black silky fibers are exposed, it is stem rot that causes the stem of the money tree to rot. In the initial stage, the corresponding medicine should be sprayed once every 10 days, and prevention and control should be carried out continuously 2-3 times.

2. Anthracnose can be treated by spraying pesticides once every 7-10 days.

3. For pests such as cabbage loopers, red spiders and loopers, you can spray the corresponding insecticides regularly, spraying 2-3 times every 7 days.
