Can wood powder be used as fertilizer?

Wood powder as fertilizer

Wood powder can be used as fertilizer. It contains more mineral elements, as well as trace nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, silicon, sulfur, iron, manganese, copper, zinc, boron, and molybdenum. The powders of different plants have different nutrient contents. It is an inorganic farm fertilizer with a wide source, low cost, complete nutrients, and obvious fertilizer effect. It can be used as flower fertilizer, but cannot be used directly.

How to make wood flour fertilizer

1. The first method is to mix wood powder directly into the soil for planting. This method is the most convenient, but the proportion needs to be controlled. Generally speaking, one part of wood powder is added to nine parts of soil. This mixture can be used directly to grow flowers and vegetables.

2. The second method is to use wood powder for composting. Every year in autumn and winter, when plants are dormant, we can compost at a distance from the plants, bury the wood powder deep and add some human or animal feces and urine into it, then bury it and keep it moist. It will decompose and mature after three months.

3. The third method is to use water. You can add some other fruit and vegetable peels into the water, and then add wood powder. Soak all the materials in it. After three months of decomposition, it can become mature organic fertilizer.

4. The fourth method is to use wood powder directly, put it in a sealed container or plastic bag, seal it, and then put it in a warm place. The higher the temperature, the faster the decomposition speed. Generally, it can be decomposed successfully in one month in summer and three months in winter. The decomposed wood powder can be used to grow mushrooms.

5. The fifth method is to use enzymes for fermentation. Add an appropriate amount of enzymes to the wood powder, and then wrap it in a container. Usually, it will decompose and mature in about a month and become a very good organic fertilizer for planting. It is very easy for various plants to absorb.

Key points for using wood powder fertilizer

Wood powder cannot be used directly and needs to be composted and fermented in advance. If it is spread directly on the soil, the heat generated will burn the roots and cause poor plant growth. After fermentation, it can be used as base fertilizer, seed fertilizer and topdressing. It can also be used as a covering for seedlings and rice seedlings. When used as base fertilizer and seed fertilizer, the amount of fertilizer should not be too large and should be kept away from the seeds to prevent seed burn.
