Bear Paw

How did it grow from a small seedling the size of a fingernail to a "big bear tree" bigger than a face as shown in the picture below?

germination

The bear's paw that has just started to sprout is a little big.

Continue to sprout

The small seeds sprouted one after another and clustered together.

growing up

Moved into the flowerpot, it started growing for 1 month.

The flowerpot for seedlings should not be too big, and the length and width should be about 8 or 9 cm. Otherwise, the soil will be too much and too deep, and the water cannot be absorbed by the soil after watering, which will cause the roots to rot easily.

sunshine

The leaves at the top gradually become thicker, a bit like bear claws. If you want the leaves of Bear's Paw to be thick, light is essential! About three to four hours of sunshine a day is needed.

Repotting

When it grows into a "little bear tree", you need to change it to a larger flowerpot with a length and width of about 10 cm. The best soil for Bear's Paw is coarse sand particles with good air permeability and peat soil.

Repotting steps:

1. Pinch the roots of the succulent plant with one hand and turn the flowerpot upside down with the other hand to remove the succulent plant from the pot.

2. Shake off the soil at the roots of succulents and cut off old and diseased roots.

3. Apply carbendazim to disinfect the wound and then put it back in the pot. Do not water after filling the soil. Wait for 3 days before watering.

grow up

It has grown into a little bear tree with lush branches and leaves.

Bear's Paw only needs to be watered once a week or so. As the seedlings grow, the sunshine time should be gradually extended, preferably to about 5 hours.

Grow up

Harvest the Big Bear Tree!

As small succulents grow, they will inevitably suffer from malnutrition and remain motionless. At this time, you can apply some green fertilizer specially designed for succulents to them.

Steps:

1. Before planting succulents in pots, spread a layer of expanded clay at the bottom of the pot, cover with soil and sprinkle with a dozen grains of green manure.

2. Cover the green manure with soil.

3. Place the roots of the succulent plant in the flowerpot, slowly fill in the soil and gently compact it.

Pearl Chlorophytum

(Source: Zibo Forum)

The newly sprouted seedlings have turned into a spider plant waterfall that can be used as curtains! Wow, that’s awesome!

germination

The young seedlings have just begun to sprout and grow tender green leaves.

Reproduction method:

1. Cut the branches of the pearl spider plant and lay them flat on the soil.

2. Slowly spread the soil to bury the stems of the pearl plant, leaving the pearls exposed on the soil surface.

3. In about 1 week, the pearl spider plant will take root, and new shoots will grow in 2 to 3 weeks.

Continue to sprout

The small buds have grown to the length of an index finger, and they are emerald green and full of vitality.

growing up

New pearls grew and began to climb.

Chlorophytum comosum is a relatively rare succulent plant that likes water. It needs to be watered every 3 or 4 days. It will grow fast only if there is sufficient water.

sunshine

Oh my, it’s going to burst!

Pearl spider plant does not like direct sunlight, so it can usually be placed in a bright place indoors. Be sure to provide shade in the summer.

flowering

The pearl spider plant can also bloom. Although the flowers are small and not as beautiful as those of the pearl spider plant, it is still very gratifying that they can bloom!

Grow up

When grown, the spider plants are placed next to the window and become succulent curtains! Beautiful and fairy-like!

Pearl Chlorophytum needs a ventilated environment, otherwise it will easily rot. Once it rots, be sure to cut off the affected area in time to avoid endangering the entire plant.

In terms of soil preparation, the pearl spider plant is similar to other succulents, which can be 40% granular soil + 60% peat soil.
