How to propagate Clivia seedlings

How to propagate Clivia seedlings

one. Seeding method

This method is generally used for large-scale breeding. In the early stage, the seeds need to be germinated. Soak them in water at a temperature of about 35 degrees for 20-30 minutes, then take them out and dry them. Generally, they are dried for two hours. If conditions permit, it is better to use sodium phosphate solution.

Choose a loose, breathable, and well-drained culture soil. You can dig humus soil near the trees, add one-third of fine sand and stir it. Evenly sow the processed seeds in the culture soil, do not water them yet, and place them in an environment of about 24 degrees for maintenance. Generally, seedlings will grow in two weeks.

2. Division method

This method is generally used for home maintenance. The amount is not large and the operation is simple. Small seedlings will grow near the roots of the two-year-old Clivia, and then the plant can be divided. Take the plant out of the pot, remove the soil, find the dividing point between the seedling and the mother plant, hold the pseudobulb with one hand and the root of the small plant with the other hand, and tear it apart. If it cannot be broken, do not use force. Just cut it off with a sterilized knife. Do not break the plant with force. After breaking it off, apply dry charcoal powder to the wound to prevent rot. Plant the separated young plants in the soil at a depth that is high enough to cover the pseudobulbs.
