What to do if the camellia buds don’t bloom

1. Increase the temperature

Reason: Camellia buds can only bloom normally when the temperature reaches a certain level. If the ambient temperature is too low, it will be difficult for it to bloom.

Treatment method: Move it indoors, or take certain measures to maintain the temperature above 0℃ to provide it with warm growing conditions.

2. Thinning buds

Reason: Many flower buds will grow on its plant, but the nutrients contained in the plant are not enough to support all the flower buds to bloom.

Treatment method: Thin out the buds and cut off the excess flower buds on the plant. It is best to keep only one flower bud on each branch.

3. Increase the application of phosphorus fertilizer

Reason: Before flowering, it is necessary to increase the application of flower fertilizer to supplement the nutrients needed for flowering. However, do not apply too much nitrogen fertilizer, otherwise it will cause its branches and leaves to grow vigorously, but not many flower buds. The flower buds that do grow are also difficult to bloom.

Treatment method: Before flowering, reduce the frequency of using nitrogen fertilizer and apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. When applying fertilizer, be sure to apply it thinly and frequently. Do not apply too concentrated fertilizer, otherwise it may burn its roots.
