How to grow Asparagus cochinchinensis

1. Soil

When caring for Asparagus, we need to give it suitable soil. It needs loose, fertile, well-drained loam. In actual maintenance, you can use garden soil, leaf mold, river sand or perlite in a 4:4:2 ratio for mixed cultivation.

2. Light

During maintenance, the light requirement is that it must be bright enough. If the direct sunlight is too strong, its leaves will turn yellow. It needs shade during the hot summer noons, but can receive full sunlight at other times.

3. Water

The water requirement for maintenance is to keep the soil in the pot moist, because it has an enlarged abnormal root underneath. Too much water will cause the fleshy roots to rot.

4. Fertilizer

Asparagus does not have a very high demand for fertilizer. In the spring and autumn growing seasons, we give it a thin liquid fertilizer once every half a month to meet its growth needs.

5. Temperature

Asparagus is very afraid of cold and cannot withstand sub-zero temperatures in winter, so it needs to be placed indoors for maintenance in winter. However, when keeping it indoors in winter, be careful not to place it too close to air conditioners or heaters to avoid hindering its growth.
