How to plant walnuts so that they will germinate

How to plant walnuts so that they will germinate

1. Preparation before sowing

When planting walnuts, you should first collect the ripe fruits in August or September, peel them, and then dry them and store them, and then sow them in mid-March of the following year.

2. How to plant

Before sowing, soak the seeds in cold water for 2 to 3 days, then take them out, mix them with wet sand, and pile them in a sunny place. The height of the pile should be about 30 to 35 cm. Then cover it with about 10 cm thick wet sand. Sprinkle water once a day to keep the soil moist. Cover it with straw mats or film at night to keep it moist and warm. After about 10 to 15 days, the shell will crack. Wait until the seeds turn white and transplant them into the soil.
