How to grow jasmine in autumn

How to grow jasmine in autumn

1. Appropriate topdressing

In autumn, jasmine may have new leaves turning yellow, and the number of flower buds and flowers may decrease. This is because it blooms in large quantities in the summer and consumes too many nutrients, and then it is not fertilized, so it lacks nutrients. Therefore, after entering autumn, you need to apply flower fertilizer every 7-10 days to provide it with nutrients.

2. Ensure lighting

It likes sunlight very much, but because the intensity of light decreases after autumn, it needs to be moved to a place where it can receive direct sunlight for maintenance. If there is no place with particularly good lighting in your home, you can use artificial lighting to provide it with light.

3. Pruning

It must be pruned in autumn. Because the amount of light decreases in autumn, plants are prone to growing too tall. If proper pruning is not done, it will easily affect its next flowering.

The specific pruning method is to first cut off the diseased branches and overgrown branches. These branches will consume a lot of nutrients and affect the growth of the plant. Then cut off the branches that have finished flowering, because these branches will not bloom again, so it is best to cut them off and leave nutrients for new branches. Finally, the main branches can be shortened appropriately to help the side branches grow. Don't cut it too short though, just a slight trim will do.
