The propagation method of southern crape myrtle

The propagation method of southern crape myrtle

1. Cutting method

1. Cuttings of softwoods: The time for cuttings is generally from July to August, because the branches are most vigorous at this time and the survival rate is higher. Cut the woody branches into cuttings about 10 cm long, leaving only 2-3 leaves on the top. The depth of the cuttings is about 8 cm. Then water it and cover it with plastic film. It will take about 15-20 days for the cuttings to take root and survive.

2. Hardbranch cuttings: The cutting time is generally from late March to early April. The method is similar to that of young branches. Choose thick one-year-old branches, cut them into 10-15 cm, and the cutting depth is about 8-13 cm. Then water them thoroughly and cover them with plastic film. When the seedlings grow to 15-20 cm, remove the film and maintain them.

2. Seeding method

Sowing is generally done in March-April. Sow the seeds on the soil surface, about 2-3 seeds every 3-4 cm. After sowing, cover with a layer of fine soil. The seeds will germinate and grow in about 10-14 days.
