Can fig tree branches survive by grafting?

Can fig tree branches survive by grafting?

1. Can it be inserted alive?

Fig branches can be grown by cuttings, but you must master the correct cutting method and choose suitable cuttings. Generally speaking, you can use either tender branches or hard branches. The branches used should be in good growth and should not be damaged by diseases or insects. Only healthy and strong branches can be successfully grafted.

2. Correct cutting method

1. Softwood cuttings: It can be done around June. Cut a section of softwood with good growth, and the length should be controlled at around 10-15cm. Use scissors to cut off the bottom leaves and cut the remaining leaves in half. Finally, insert it into the soil and provide shade. Be careful not to insert it too deep into the soil, about 2/3 of the depth is enough.

2. Hard branch cuttings: It is best to choose spring March or April for cuttings. The length of the branches can be slightly longer, 15-20cm is best. Cut the upper end of the branch flat and the lower end into a horseshoe shape, then dip it in an appropriate amount of rooting powder. This will make it easier to survive. After processing, insert the cuttings into the soil and compact the soil, fix the branches, and water it thoroughly.
