How to fertilize magnolia

How to fertilize magnolia

1. Apply basal fertilizer

Before planting, apply sufficient base fertilizer. Organic fertilizer or livestock manure can be used as base fertilizer.

2. Fertilization during the seedling stage

When new sprouts grow out, it is best to choose decomposed cake fertilizer, because this fertilizer has a moderate concentration and is very suitable for root absorption, which can make the new sprouts grow more vigorously and healthily.

3. Fertilization during the growing season

The plant needs a lot of nutrients during its growth period. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be applied approximately once every 15 to 20 days during its growth period. The most common organic compound fertilizer can be used.

4. Fertilization during flowering period

Before the magnolia buds form, we can apply liquid fertilizer about every 4 or 5 days. Be sure to add a certain proportion of water to reduce the concentration of the fertilizer.

5. Fertilize after flowering

At this time, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be applied mainly to promote the plant to produce more buds, and it will bloom more flowers in the spring of the second year.
