Family breeding methods and precautions for Yueyan

How to cultivate Yueyan

soil

It needs to be loose, breathable, and rich in organic matter. Basically, any cultivation medium suitable for succulents can meet the requirements of Yueyan!

illumination

The Queen of the Cliff prefers a warm, dry, semi-sunny growing environment, but should avoid excessive sunlight at noon and in the west. A little more care is more conducive to its growth and development.

temperature

The best temperature is 25 to 30 degrees. If it exceeds 30 degrees, the growth of the moon banquet will become slow. If you are still in strong sunlight, you are likely to get burned.

humidity

The requirement for soil moisture is to water as soon as the soil is dry. Do not allow water to accumulate in the potting soil. It is very necessary for the potting soil to be loose and well-ventilated.

When caring for the plant, sprinkle water on the surrounding ground or place a wet sand basin or water basin under the pot. Never sprinkle water on the leaves.

Fertilization

The best base fertilizer is decomposed organic manure, such as sheep manure, chicken manure, etc.

Normally, root fertilizer is mainly applied with multi-element compound fertilizer, and organic fertilizer extract can also be used. Adult plants should try to use less or no fertilizers with high nitrogen or inorganic salt content. So you must be careful when purchasing fertilizers!

Dormant period

When the Moon Feast is dormant, please be sure to keep the soil moist and dry, otherwise the bulbous roots of the Moon Feast will rot. Remember not to water it too much!

Things to note when raising a moon feast

Preparation of culture soil and transplanting

Be sure to control the moisture content so that it can be formed into a ball when kneaded by hand and fall apart when let go.

Air humidity

It is worth noting that, unlike other succulents, the moon plant has high requirements for air humidity. This is also a general rule for Gesneriaceae plants. Please remember it!

Watering Note

Avoid watering plants at noon in midsummer, especially with the colder groundwater in northern regions. Never use these! Even if you want to use it, please keep it warm.

Precautions for fertilization

When applying fertilizer to the roots, be careful not to let the fertilizer liquid get on the plants, and prevent water from accumulating in the cracks of the tubers caused by sunburn or bruises, or from rotting when exposed to fertilizer.

Fertilizing and watering should be carried out at the same time, and thin fertilizers should be applied frequently. Don't be impatient, otherwise it will cause harm to the Queen of the Cliff!
