Dragon fruit planting technology

Dragon fruit planting technology

1. Planting method

1. Cutting propagation: In the spring, choose healthy dragon fruit branches and cut them into a length of about 15 cm, then put them in a cool place to dry the cuttings. Then insert it into the soil and wait for it to take root.

2. Grafting propagation: Select a healthy pitaya stem, cut it off, and insert it into a well-growing Pitaya rootstock. After plugging in, you need to use a rope to tie the two together to prevent them from falling off. Then place it in a temperature of 28-30℃ and the grafting will be successful in about 4 days.

2. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: Because it likes high temperatures, the annual average temperature must be above 18°C. In winter, it is best not to let the temperature drop below 8℃.

2. Soil: It likes slightly alkaline soil and is best planted in soil with a pH between 7.0-8.0.

3. Water: Although it has a certain degree of drought resistance, it cannot grow normally without sufficient water. During its growing period, it needs to be watered frequently to ensure that it has enough moisture for growth.

4. Light: It likes sunlight very much and can accept sunlight. Within a certain range, the stronger the sunlight, the faster it grows and the faster nutrients accumulate.

5. Fertilization: Its growth requires sufficient nutrient support. Before the growing period, nitrogen fertilizer should be applied to help the plant grow quickly. Before the flowering period, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be added to help it transition from vegetative growth to reproductive growth, so that it can bloom more flowers and produce more fruits.
