How to deal with the fading of longevity flowers

How to deal with the fading of longevity flowers

1. Prune the remaining flowers

After the Kalanchoe has faded, the flower buds should be cut off first. Generally, the upper part of the branches that have bloomed should be cut off together with the remaining flowers. Because the flowering time is different, pruning can be divided into time periods according to the flowering time of the plant.

2. Pruning branches

After flowering, the plant needs to be trimmed as a whole. First, the dead branches, old branches and overgrown branches should be pruned, and then thinning should be done according to the growth shape of the plant to make the plant beautiful and ventilated.

3. Cutting treatment

Cut some of the branches with better growth below the nodes, dry the wounds in a ventilated place, and then plant them in a substrate mixed with perlite and bone meal. Generally, such branches grow better.

4. Dormant maintenance

After flowering, the plants are cultivated at a temperature of 15-25℃. The moisture evaporates quickly in summer, but excessive watering is prohibited to prevent slow growth and root rot. Make sure the soil is dry before watering. After flowering, you can apply some nitrogen fertilizer to supplement the nutrients needed for growth. Generally, after flowering, there is a dormant period in spring and summer. At this time, the intensity of sunlight increases and appropriate shading should be provided.
