How to weave lucky bamboo into a bamboo cage?

8 steps to weave lucky bamboo

8 branches are relatively small in number and are usually woven into a flat gourd shape.

1. Pruning and tidying

Select a few branches of lucky bamboo that are strong and straight in appearance, trim the roots, and cut off the branches and leaves at the top, leaving 4 to 6 leaves and exposing neat stems. After pruning, place it in a ventilated and cool place to dry, and be careful not to leave any moisture on the stems.

2. Bundling

Use simple plastic ropes, ribbons, etc. to tie the lucky bamboo together in pairs, and divide it into three sections from top to bottom.

3. Group shape

Arrange the 4 pairs of lucky bamboos crosswise, then tie them up into a flat gourd shape as shown below. Be careful not to tie them too tightly.

4. Put it in the basin

Choose a flowerpot of appropriate size and plant the woven lucky bamboo in it. Be careful not to plant it too deep so as not to affect the breathing of the roots.

10 steps to weave lucky bamboo

10 or more lucky bamboos can be woven into a cylindrical shape.

1. Shaping arrangement

Spread the trimmed lucky bamboo flat on the ground and arrange them neatly, with a distance of 7 to 10 cm between each one.

Then cross and press the other 10 lucky bamboos diagonally on top, as shown in the following figure:

2. Bundling

Tie all the cross sections together with a simple rope.

3. Stand up straight

Stand up all the lucky bamboos, bend both sides closed, and then tie them up with ropes to form a cylinder.

4. Put it in the basin

After weaving is completed, prop up the lucky bamboo from the top of the cylinder to create a certain amount of space to ensure that each branch can fully stretch, and then plant it along the edge of the pot. When planting, add more nutrient soil and sand to the pot to increase the permeability of the soil.

How to care for lucky bamboo after it is woven?

1. Avoid direct sunlight

Lucky bamboo likes shade and is afraid of strong light. It must be shaded in summer and placed in a diffused light place indoors to avoid direct sunlight.

2. Water more

Lucky bamboo is resistant to moisture and waterlogging. Water it once a day in summer and spray water on the leaves frequently to increase the air humidity.

3. Do not apply too much fertilizer

Potted lucky bamboo only needs to be fertilized with potassium dihydrogen phosphate once a month. Hydroponic lucky bamboo does not need to be fertilized, but a few drops of ferrous sulfate solution can be added every month.
