How does Jade Dew become crystal clear?

If you want the Jade Dew to be crystal clear, you need to "open the window". What is window opening? When the top of the jade plant's leaves becomes transparent, it is called "opening the window". Once the window opens, the appearance will be directly upgraded to a higher level!

Window opening tips

1. Correct soil preparation

Jade plant has radish-shaped fleshy roots, so the soil should be loose and breathable enough with good drainage. Granular soil, volcanic rock and coarse sand mixed in a ratio of 6:2:2 can retain water and allow air to flow. You can also mix it with leaf mold, coarse sand and vermiculite.

2. Spray water on the leaves

Watering is difficult to control in the summer. You can put stored rainwater, purified water or dried tap water into a spray bottle and spray the leaves every day, but do not spray the center of the leaves. The top of the leaves will be more transparent after spraying water.

3. Shading at the root of the leaves

Jade plant is native to South Africa, and mainly grows in grass piles or stone piles under bushes in a semi-shady environment. Generally, only the top of the leaves, that is, the window part, is exposed to light. Therefore, if you want to open the window well, you need to shade the roots of the leaves and cover them slightly with coarse soil.

How to give first aid when the jade plant shrivels up?

In summer, the jade plant can easily shrivel up, and many flower lovers water it randomly in a hurry. As a result, the situation gets worse and worse, and the roots rot directly! If this problem occurs, follow the steps below to fix it immediately!

Rescue measures

1. Cleaning

Dig out the jade plant, gently shake off the soil, and use scissors to cut off the old leaves and rotten roots that have turned black and shriveled. Then rinse with clean water.

2. Disinfection

Apply a 500-1000 times diluted carbendazim solution to the wound for disinfection. Rinse with clean water after 1 hour and then place in a cool and ventilated place to dry.

3. Prepare water

Find a transparent container with a large diameter, fill it with water, and place the shriveled jade plant in the water, with the water surface just touching the bottom of the jade plant. Be careful not to soak it! After ten days, the shriveled jade plant will slowly regain its elasticity.

4. Put it in the basin

After the jade plant grows new roots, start potting it. The soil must be loose and breathable. Do not water it within two weeks after potting it. Wait until the roots are firmly grown and then water it again. After that, maintain it normally.

How does Gypsum survive the summer?

As the temperature rises, the jade plant will gradually enter a dormant period, its leaves will shrink and dry up, and its color will darken. Maintenance during this period is particularly critical!

Summer Tips

1. Ventilation

Ventilation is necessary in summer. Flowing air can help Jade Plant resist higher temperatures. Especially after watering, if there is no natural wind, artificial flowing air should be created, such as a small fan, to reduce the soil moisture to a safe range as soon as possible to prevent leaf rot.

During consecutive rainy days, good ventilation can reduce soil mold caused by excessive air humidity to a certain extent!

2. Lighting

Jade plant is sensitive to light. After 10 o'clock in the summer, it is necessary to put up a shade net or move it to a place with scattered light indoors. It can only receive direct sunlight after 5 o'clock in the afternoon.

3. Watering

Reduce watering in summer and water twice a month is enough. In hot weather, you can spray the surface of the potting soil. Watering should be done after the evening, and the plant should be ventilated immediately after watering. No need to water during continuous rainy weather to avoid mold and root rot!

4. Pest and disease control

Jade dew is prone to attracting small black flies in summer. Sprinkling some dx small white medicine in the flowerpot can play a preventive role. When there are too many small black flies, you can spray some imidacloprid or acetamiprid diluted 1000~3000 times.
