Edamame is actually young soybeans . It is named edamame because its pods are covered with dense and soft hairs. It is cultivated all over the country, and is most famous in the Northeast. So how to grow edamame to achieve high yield? Let’s learn more about it below. 1. Planting site selection When planting edamame, it is best to choose land that is fertile, moist, well-drained and has a deep soil layer. After selecting the land, plowing and disinfection should be carried out in time, and then ridges and furrows should be formed according to the ridge width of 1.5m, furrow width of 30cm and furrow depth of 30cm. 2. Land preparation and fertilization 7-10 days before planting, combine land preparation with application of organic and inorganic fertilizers at the same time. Generally, 500-1000kg of decomposed organic fertilizer, 20kg of ammonium bicarbonate, 25kg of calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer and 7-8kg of potassium chloride can be applied per 667m2. 3. Sowing time The sowing time of edamame is usually determined according to local climatic conditions and variety characteristics. Early-maturing varieties are generally sown in spring from February to March, mid-maturing varieties are suitable for sowing in April and May, and late-maturing varieties are sown in June and July. 4. Seed treatment Be sure to mix the seeds with pesticides before sowing to prevent and control diseases and pests. Add 10 grams of 30% fenpropimorph or 2.5% fludioxonil suspension seed dressing agent or 5-10 grams of 95% meconazole powder and 70% imidacloprid seed treatment agent to 20 ml of clean water, shake well, pour into 5-10 kg of edamame seeds in a large basin, stir constantly, mix thoroughly, place in a cool place to dry and then sow. 5. Planting method Dig holes on the wide ridges with a row spacing of 25cm, a plant spacing of 20cm, and a depth of 4cm. Sow 3-4 edamame seeds in each hole, and then cover the surface of the seeds with a layer of fine soil about 2cm thick. 6. Field management A number of field management tasks are required during the growth period of edamame, including weeding, watering and fertilizing. When the seedlings reach 2-4 leaves, they should be sprayed with herbicides to control weeds and avoid competition for nutrients and water. During the critical period of flowering and podding, apply 100-150 grams of 99% potassium dihydrogen phosphate per mu and spray it with 20 kilograms of water to supplement nutrients and improve yield and quality. In addition, drought is prone to occur in the early stages of edamame growth, and timely watering is required to maintain soil moisture and promote edamame growth. In general, edamame planting technology involves many aspects such as soil selection, sowing time and method, seed treatment, and field management. Through these fine management and planting methods, the yield and quality of edamame can be effectively improved, and the goal of high-quality and efficient planting can be achieved.
