How to grow magnolia

1. Breeding environment

(1) Soil: loose, fertile, well-drained and acidic soil is required. You can mix leaf mold, rice husk ash and coarse sand in a ratio of five to two to two. You can also add some manure to it.

(2) Watering: Water when the soil surface is dry. The plant has fleshy roots and cannot be waterlogged.

(3) Fertilization: The plant prefers phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. During the growth period, it is about once every three to five days. However, it is afraid of concentrated fertilizer, so you need to pay attention to the concentration.

(4) Light: It is a positive flower, so sufficient light must be provided. Especially during the growth and flowering periods, no less than six hours a day. Avoid midday sun in summer.

2. Pick the heart and leaves

The Spring Equinox or Tomb-Sweeping Day is a good time to move plants from indoors to outdoors. After going outdoors and adapting for about two to three days, you can remove the old leaves and leave the young leaves to promote the growth of new shoots. In addition, after a batch of flowers bloom, the old leaves should be removed to promote the growth of new branches and flowers. In addition, during the growth period, it is necessary to pinch the tips of the plants to promote the sprouting of side branches.

3. Pest and disease control

The main diseases include "root rot" and so on. After discovery, cut off the diseased leaves in time, and then spray the leaves with 50% concentration of carbendazim aqueous solution or 70% thiophanate-methyl solution. The main insect pests are aphids, which harm the tender shoots and flower buds of the plants. After discovery, you can spray it with 500 times laundry detergent and then rinse it with clean water. For scale insects, a vinegar solution can be used.
