How to collect seeds of Impatiens

Why do we need to collect seeds of Impatiens?

Impatiens needs to be propagated through sowing, so seeds are very important props. But why do we need to collect seeds of Impatiens?

The fruit of Impatiens is a capsule, which contains a large number of seeds and is generally black and spherical. Once it matures, it will crack easily and then the seeds will pop out. If you want the Impatiens to reproduce on its own, there is no problem, but if you want to reproduce by sowing, you must pay attention to harvesting.

How to collect seeds of Impatiens

There are actually three methods you can choose from when harvesting seeds.

Method 1

Start collecting seeds when the fruits of Impatiens are not fully ripe so that the fruits will not burst. The harvested fruits can still mature after going through the ripening stage.

Method 2

Harvest the fruits of Impatiens in containers when they are ripe. Use a small container to collect the seeds, place it under the fruit, then pinch the fruit with your hands, put the fruit into the container, press it gently and then release it, the seeds will fall into the container.

Method 3

When the fruit of Impatiens is not yet ripe, you can put a plastic bag on the fruit. In this way, when the fruit is ripe and cracks, the seeds will fall into the bag.
