Can yew be potted?

Yew can be planted in pots, and there is absolutely no problem in growing yew in pots. Compared with planting in the ground, potted yew is more vigorous because the latter can better and more accurately provide the nutrients it needs for growth.

Potted yew needs to be planted in a flowerpot with a diameter of more than 50 cm. If the plant is too large, the size of the flowerpot can be increased as appropriate. Climbing roses generally require a 40 cm flowerpot. A clay pot with holes at the bottom is the best choice. Potted yew can bear fruit.

How to cultivate yew in potted plants

1. Soil preparation

When planting yew, you can put more fermented humus in the base soil. Since yew is a plant that needs to be cultivated for many years, the initial soil fertility will determine its subsequent growth trend.

2. Pruning

When pruning yew trees, be careful to avoid cutting off the tips as much as possible, because if you do, its subsequent growth will be greatly affected. When pruning, you only need to cut off the dead branches and leaves.

3. Watering

When watering the yew tree, you can water it more appropriately. Since the soil is hydrophobic and there are holes at the bottom of the flowerpot, even if you water it too much, the water will drip out of the pot due to gravity.

4. Fertilization

When fertilizing the yew, you can apply a small amount of fertilizer each time. This can effectively avoid the instantaneous soil concentration being too high. Moreover, cultivating yew is a long process, so you can't be impatient and have to take it slow.

5. Lighting

When planting yew, you can reduce some light to prevent the plant from losing water and being burned.
