How to grow roses

How to grow roses

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: Rose likes fertile and moist soil, and loose, well-drained sandy loam is best.

2. Temperature: The suitable temperature for rose growth is 18-20℃. If the temperature reaches 25℃, its growth will accelerate, but the flowering period will be shortened; when the temperature reaches 30℃, not only will the flowers bloom small, but it will also be prone to diseases and pests; when the temperature is below 5℃, it will enter a dormant state and stop growing.

3. Light: Roses can only grow better with sufficient sunlight. Give them at least 5-6 hours of light every day. If the light is too weak, it will grow too tall or the color of the flowers will fade. Appropriate shading measures need to be taken during the hot summer noons.

4. Watering: When new branches and leaves grow, water once every two days, when buds appear, water once a day, and once in the morning during flowering. The soil should not be too dry or too wet. In summer, you can often spray water on the leaves to cool them down.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Propagation by cuttings: Generally, cuttings are chosen in spring or early autumn. The bark on the plant should be peeled first, and then the branches can be cut off for cuttings after callus tissue is produced.

2. Seed propagation: The spacing between seeds is generally 3 cm. After sowing, cover with a layer of sand and water thoroughly. Seedlings will emerge in about 40 days.

3. Common Pests

1. Aphids: When attacked, black secretions will appear. During the egg-laying period, you can use imidacloprid and avermectin alternately for prevention and control.

2. Leaffly: Holes will appear on the leaves, and in severe cases the tender tips will be eaten away. Spray with pesticides when pests occur.
