How to Plant Echinacea Seeds

How to Plant Echinacea Seeds

1. Time selection

Generally speaking, we choose to sow in late April or early September.

2. Matrix selection and treatment

Choose soil that is well-drained, breathable and rich in nutrients. After choosing, in order to ensure adequate nutrient supply, you have to add some fertilizer, such as animal manure.

3. Seed selection and processing

Select plump, undamaged seeds and stir them in warm water at about 35 to 40 degrees Celsius. After about two to three hours, soak it in disinfectant for about a quarter of an hour. Take out the seeds, dry them in the sun for about an hour or two, and then you can sow them.

4. Formal sowing

We usually choose to mix the soil for sowing echinacea. First, put some soil into the container, then we mix the seeds evenly with another part of the soil, and then put it into the container and water it thoroughly. After that, you just need to wait patiently for it to emerge from the soil and sprout. You can see it sprouting in seven to ten days of a lunar month. In about half a month, the seedlings will be ready.

5. Post-management

The first is water. The seedlings generally need less water in the early stages, so just keep the soil slightly moist and don't water too much. When it grows two or three true leaves, you can start watering it more. However, if it rains, you should also pay attention to drainage.

If some weeds grow around, we must remove them in time. However, in order not to damage the roots of the seedlings, it is best to remove them with our hands rather than with tools.

In addition, if you are sowing in September, you can use plastic film to keep the seeds warm.
