How to propagate Million Bells and when to take cuttings

How to propagate Million Bells and when to take cuttings

1. Cutting time

Its reproduction is mostly carried out by cuttings. The time must be chosen well and it cannot be done blindly, otherwise the survival rate will be reduced. It should be chosen in spring and autumn. The temperature, light and humidity in these two seasons are very suitable, which is beneficial to rooting and growth. Note that you must pay attention to high and low temperature environments.

2. Picking young branches

When taking cuttings, you should choose slightly tenderer branches. The length of each section should be about 5 cm. Apply rooting powder on the wound and then place it in a cool place to dry. This can avoid rot and promote faster rooting.

3. Soil Preparation

It is necessary to prepare a substrate with strong drainage and relatively loose structure, otherwise it will be difficult for the branches to take root. When preparing the soil, you can mix peat soil, river sand, and leaf mold to ensure normal growth. Note: disinfect it before use to avoid insect eggs.

4. Potting and cutting

Once the soil is prepared, the treated cuttings can be inserted. Pay attention to the depth when inserting, about 2 centimeters into the soil will be enough. Lightly compact the soil around the branches, spray it with an appropriate amount of water, and place it in a dim and warm place, which will encourage it to take root quickly. Note that it must not be placed in direct sunlight, otherwise the cuttings will be sunburned and it will be difficult for them to survive.
