Post-flowering treatment of hibiscus flowers

Post-flowering treatment of hibiscus flowers

1. Prune the remaining flowers

It is necessary and primary to deal with its withered and dead flowers, because this will not waste nutrients in vain and will make it easier for the next wave of flowers to bloom. It takes skills to learn to cut off the dead flowers. We must cut them off from the stems and branches, because this can effectively prevent the loss of nutrients, and the flowers will have more nutrients when they bloom later.

2. Adequate lighting

Light is necessary. This is a plant that likes light very much. Many people have a wrong understanding of this plant, thinking that it will only bloom once. In fact, if we put it in a place with stronger light, it will be easy to make it bloom again. It is usually placed in a south-facing spot indoors where there is sunlight, but it is also feasible to place it outdoors.

3. Timely fertilization

Because once the flowers bloom, there will be a lot of nutritional deficiencies, we need to supplement them in time, mainly with phosphorus fertilizer and potassium fertilizer, and supplemented with nitrogen fertilizer. If you are too lazy to buy them one by one, you can buy compound fertilizer. The interval between the first flowering and the second flowering is relatively long, about half a month, so basically fertilizer should be applied once it blooms.

4. Water

Water is also very important because it prefers a humid environment, so we must give it plenty of water, especially during the flowering period. If it blooms but does not get enough water, it is very likely that its buds will fall off. So generally we need to keep the soil moist. Spray water once in the morning and evening so that the flowers will bloom better.
