Leaf cuttings

For leaf cuttings, spread the complete mature leaves flat on moist sand, with the leaf surface facing up and the back facing down. No need to cover with soil, and place in a cool place.

In about 10 days, small leaf clusters and new roots will grow from the base of the leaves. Bury the roots in the soil, expose it to more sunlight, water and fertilize it appropriately, and it will gradually grow into a thriving new plant.

Cuttings

Cuttings can be single leaves, suckers or top branches. There is no limit to the length of the cuttings, but the cut ends must be dry and the lower leaves removed before inserting into the sand bed.

It usually takes about 20 days for roots to grow after planting. The planting soil should not be too wet, otherwise the cut ends will easily turn yellow and rot. When the roots are 2-3 cm long, they should be potted. August to October is the best time, as the roots will grow quickly and have a high survival rate. Cuttings can also be made from flower stems. Flower stem cuttings can not only grow into new plants, but you may even see them bloom.

Division

It is best to divide the taro in spring.

The bottom stems and branches of the Jade Lotus can sprout many side buds, often growing into small seedlings with complete plant shapes. The seedlings can be cut off and transplanted into separate pots.

Division and transplanting should be done after the incision has healed to prevent the incision from rotting. The survival rate of transplanting seedlings by division is high, so it is the most popular method of propagating Jade Lotus among flower lovers.
