How often should azaleas be watered?

How often should azaleas be watered?

1. Don’t water unless the soil is dry

In fact, there is no fixed number of times to water, because the seasons are different in different places. Generally, we should water it when it is dry. If you don't know how to tell when it is dry, knock on the pot. If the sound is crisp, then it is dry. Of course, it can't be too dry, otherwise its leaves may wilt.

2. Four Seasons

In spring and autumn, it is in the growing season. At this time, we must ensure that there is enough water, especially in spring when we need to water more frequently. We also need to spray the leaves and the ground so that the humidity is high.

In summer, the temperature is relatively high and water evaporates quickly, so we need to water the plants in the morning and evening. Of course, we need to know that we cannot water the plants at noon, because the roots may be damaged by the stimulation of cold water, and we must not just water them a little.

In winter, you don't need too much water, just keep the soil from drying out. If you water it too much, its roots may rot and it will die in the spring.

We still need to water less when it is in bloom, because too much water will cause the flowers to wither early. In addition, we need to know that watering still needs to be changed appropriately according to the weather. For example, when the weather is very hot, we still need to increase the amount of water appropriately according to the temperature and be more flexible.

3. Water quality

There are also requirements for the water used. Generally, we need to use slightly acidic water. Alkaline water is not acceptable, as it may kill it in a short time. And generally we use tap water with a pH value below 7. If the water does not meet the requirements, we can add some vinegar to it. The water still needs to be exposed to the sun, so that the chlorine in it can evaporate and the water temperature can be increased so that the temperature difference between water and soil will not be too large. In addition, this can also promote microbial activity and make the roots absorb faster.
