The national second-class protected plant

1. Morphological characteristics

The height of the orchid is 13-30 cm, with fleshy roots that are finger-shaped and clustered at the base of the stem. The stem is short and the leaves are broad linear or broad lanceolate. The flower stems are erect, 10-25 cm long. The raceme has many densely packed flowers that twist in a spiral. Bracts ovate-lanceolate. The flowers are small and purple, pink or white. It usually blooms between July and August in summer.

2. Origin and Habitat

The grass grows under forests, bushes, grasslands or riverbed swamp meadows on hillsides at an altitude of 10-3400 meters. It has a wide distribution range and can be found in every province and region of my country. In addition, it is also distributed in Vietnam, Thailand, India, Afghanistan, Japan, the Korean Peninsula, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Australia. It likes a moist and warm environment and has a certain degree of shade tolerance, but it needs more diffuse light during cultivation and cannot be kept in a dark environment for a long time, otherwise it will affect its growth.

3. Reproduction method

The propagation of clematis is mostly by division, which can be done throughout the year, but it is best to do it in the late flowering period. Select the side buds that grow thick, pinch the stems and pull them out gently, then plant them separately. When cultivating, use loose and breathable soil, which can be mixed with peat soil, perlite and vermiculite. It can also be propagated by sowing. Collect the seeds after the fruit is ripe, and then spread the seeds evenly on the substrate. True leaves will grow in about 3 months. However, the survival rate of sowing propagation is low.
