How to grow Oyster Mushroom to get high yield?

Oyster mushroom, as a common edible fungus in our daily life, is deeply loved by people for its unique flavor and affordable price. The cap of this mushroom is shaped like a shell or fan and is usually between 4 and 12 cm in size. So how can we grow Oyster mushrooms to achieve high yield?

1. Cultivation raw materials

A variety of raw materials can be used to cultivate Oyster mushrooms, including cottonseed hulls, corn cobs, sawdust, rice straw, wheat straw, etc. Growers should choose appropriate raw materials according to local conditions. All ingredients should be fresh, dry and free from mold.

Formula ratio: corn cob 48%, cottonseed hull 40%, cottonseed or rapeseed cake powder 4%-5%, superphosphate 1%, wood ash 1%-2%, urea 0.3%-0.5%, lime 2%-3%.

2. Fermentation process

Prepare the site: Choose a place with plenty of sunlight and high and dry terrain.

Mixing: Use lime water with a pH value of 9-10 to adjust the moisture content of the culture medium to 65%-70%.

Composting: 50 kg of material per square meter, and choose the pile shape (round or long) according to the amount of material.

Ventilation: Use a wooden stick with a diameter of 2-3 cm to make holes every 0.5 m, and place a bamboo pole at the bottom to facilitate ventilation.

Covering: After stacking, cover with plastic film to keep warm and moist, and promote fermentation.

Turning the pile: After 1-3 days, when the material temperature rises to 50℃-60℃, turn the pile once after 24 hours to ensure that the positions of the upper and lower material layers inside and outside are adjusted to keep the temperature and pressure consistent.

3. Bag inoculation

When the temperature is low, use a long and wide plastic cylinder with a larger loading capacity. The bag is 23 cm wide, 40-45 cm long, and can hold 0.7-0.8 kg of dry material. 15%-20% to ensure the mycelium is pure and growing vigorously.

4. Bacteria management

When the temperature is low in early spring, they can be arranged side by side, leaving a 50 cm aisle between each row, and stacked in 3-5 layers. The culture room temperature or bed temperature is 15℃-20℃, and the material temperature is 20℃-25℃.

The initial relative humidity of the air shall not exceed 60%, and may increase to 60%-70% in the later stage. 2-3 times a day, increase ventilation frequency and time when the temperature is high and the humidity is high. Mycelium grows best under weak light and avoids strong light.

5. Mushroom production management

Lower the temperature, increase the temperature difference between day and night, increase the relative humidity of the air, strengthen ventilation, and increase light. Control the relative humidity of the air at 85%-95%, provide sufficient oxygen and low concentration of carbon dioxide, and strong light.

Management of fruiting body development: Do not spray water during the knotting period to promote the formation of mycelium knots and buds. Do not spray water during the mulberry period and increase ventilation. During the coral stage, spray water and pay attention to moisturizing the young mushrooms. Spray water several times during the elongation period to promote fruiting body thickening. Harvest when the cap unfolds during the mature stage.

The above is an introduction to the key points of Pleurotus ostreatus cultivation technology. In addition, attention should be paid to maintaining the hygiene of the culture room environment and promptly handling miscellaneous bacteria to ensure successful cultivation.
