The propagation method of Schefflera variegated

The propagation method of Schefflera variegated

1. Ordinary cutting method

Cuttings are usually taken in spring. First, cut one-year-old branches from the top of the plant, with a length of eight to ten centimeters. Then cut off the leaves below to prevent water loss through transpiration. Insert them into a bed of river sand. Control the temperature at around 25 degrees Celsius and maintain a moist environment. They will take root in about four to six weeks.

2. Seeding method

The best time for this method is spring. The soil you choose should be moist. After placing the seeds, cover them with a thin layer of soil. Under temperature conditions of 20 to 25 degrees Celsius, seedlings will emerge in about two to three weeks. When the seedlings grow to a height of five to seven centimeters, transplant them once and then plant them again in the second year.

3. Full light fog insertion method

First, spread the tiled and disinfected river sand into the cutting pool in sequence, then select the eight-centimeter-long tender branches grown that year, cut off the lower leaves, and dip the roots in rooting powder for about twenty minutes. Secondly, it is best to insert the branches into the pool sand in the afternoon. After inserting, spray them from 8 to 17 o'clock every day for the first two weeks, with an interval of three minutes; after three or four weeks, the interval is changed to seven or eight minutes; after five weeks, the interval is about ten minutes, and then the seedlings can be transplanted after they have grown strong.

4. High branch layering method

From late April to June, select two-year-old branches, peel the bark in a ring about one centimeter wide and deep enough to see the green cambium, wrap the wound with damp moss or cooked manure, and finally wrap the upper and lower ends with plastic bags. It will take about forty days for roots to grow. This method has a higher survival rate and is helpful for shaping and pruning the plant in the future.
