How to propagate jewelweed

How to propagate jewelweed

1. Leaf cuttings

1. Choose the most mature and robust leaf on a relatively healthy plant and pick it intact.

2. Spread it flat on the prepared moist sand and soil. The front of the leaves should face up and the back of the leaves should face down. There is no need to cover them with soil like planting seeds. Just leave them exposed on the surface of the soil.

3. Place the flower pot with leaves in a cool place. After about ten days, small leaves and roots will grow at the base of the leaves.

4. We can artificially bury the roots in the soil. In the future, you can let it get more sunlight. Through scientific and appropriate watering and fertilization, the leaves can slowly grow into a healthy new plant.

2. Cuttings

1. Select the branches, taproots or single leaves at the top of the plant and cut them off with tools. The cuttings can be long or short.

2. After the cut ends of the cuttings are dry, remove the leaves underneath and then insert them into the prepared sandy soil. The sandy soil of the cuttings cannot be too moist, otherwise the wounds will easily turn yellow and then rot.

3. After planting, roots will usually grow after 20 days. When the roots are two to three centimeters long, transplant the plant into a pot.

3. Division

If you are going to use division, it is best to choose spring, but if you are going to use indoor cuttings, any time of the year is fine, but it is best to do it from August to October, because at this time it will grow roots faster and the survival rate will also be higher.

IV. Precautions

1. If it is leaf cuttings, remember that the front of the leaf faces up and the back faces down.

2. If it is a cutting, be sure to wait until the wound is dry before planting.
