Geely Red Breeding Methods and Precautions

Geely Red Breeding Methods and Precautions

Lucky Red is a foliage plant with great ornamental value. Its bright red leaves and unique growth habits make it a popular choice for interior decoration. However, many flower lovers say that they cannot grow it well. Let’s learn together the cultivation methods and precautions of Geely Red.

1. Lighting

Geely Red likes bright diffuse light and is suitable for places such as living rooms or windowsills. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent the leaves from getting sunburned. It needs at least 4-6 hours of diffuse light per day to promote its photosynthesis and growth.

2. Temperature

25-30℃, this is the best temperature range for the growth of Geely Red. The temperature in winter should be kept above 15℃ and avoid being lower than 10℃ to prevent the plants from being frozen or dying.

3. Ventilation

Good ventilation helps the growth of Geely Red and avoids the occurrence of diseases and pests. It is best to place the Lucky Red near doors and windows, and open the windows regularly to ventilate the plant so that it can breathe fresh air.

4. Humidity

Geely red likes a humid environment, but is not tolerant to waterlogging. Apply small amounts and multiple times to avoid waterlogging in the soil. Water evaporates quickly in summer, so you need to spray water frequently to maintain humidity. At the same time, pay attention to the amount of watering. It is best to water directly into the soil.

5. Fertilization

Apply fertilizer once every half month, paying attention to the combination of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium to promote plant growth and bright leaf color. During the flower bud differentiation period, potassium dihydrogen phosphate foliar fertilizer can be applied once. Stop fertilizing during the flowering period. Apply liquid fertilizer once before winter, and stop fertilizing in winter.

In addition, spring is the best time to repot the Lucky Red, and the pot should be of appropriate size to provide sufficient growing space. Choose loose, fertile, well-drained, sandy soil rich in organic matter. It grows well in slightly acidic to slightly alkaline soil with a pH value of 5.5-8. Materials such as leaf mold, garden soil, rice husk ash or coarse sand can be used to prepare it.
