Planting methods and conditions of Adenophora australis

Planting methods and conditions of Adenophora australis

Adenophora australis is a commonly used Chinese medicinal material . It prefers warm, cool and well-lit climatic conditions and is shade-tolerant, cold-tolerant and drought-tolerant. Below, the editor will introduce the planting methods and conditions of Adenophora australis, let’s take a look.

1. Planting method of Adenophora australis

1. Site selection and land preparation

Choose flat or gently sloping land with plenty of sunlight, fertile, humus-rich and well-drained sandy loam or loam as the planting site. When preparing the land, use 2000-2500 grams of compost or manure per mu and add 20-50 kilograms of phosphate fertilizer as base fertilizer. After spreading the base fertilizer evenly, plough the soil 30-40 cm deep, harrow and level the soil to make ridges with a width of 1-1.3 meters.

2. Reproduction method

Adenophora australis is propagated by seeds, which can be divided into spring sowing and autumn sowing. Spring sowing is carried out in early to mid-April, and autumn sowing is carried out before freezing in November. When sowing, dig shallow trenches 4-6 cm in depth with a row spacing of 30-40 cm, spread the seeds evenly in the trenches, cover with fine soil, compact lightly, and then water. If conditions permit, cover the seeds with a layer of grass to keep them warm and moist to promote germination. The seed rate per mu is about 1 kg.

3. Thinning

Thin out the seedlings when they have 2-3 true leaves, and make sure the leaves do not overlap. When the seedlings are 12-15 cm tall, transplant them and keep the spacing between plants 10-15 cm. Water after thinning and apply appropriate fertilizer.

4. Intertillage and weeding

Choose a cloudy day to pull out weeds during the seedling stage. After the seedlings are established, combine topdressing, loosening the soil and weeding, and do appropriate inter-cultivation to prevent the soil from becoming compacted. Pay attention to drainage on rainy days, and water appropriately during droughts, especially during the seedling stage.

5. Topdressing

Apply 10% light human manure or 2% urea water during the seedling stage. After transplanting, apply fertilizer once with human and animal manure, with a dosage of 1000-1500 kg per mu. Before winter, loosen the topsoil lightly and apply 1,000 kg of soil and fertilizer per mu. After the seedlings emerge in the second year, apply human and animal manure and urine, and apply again before flowering in June-July, with a dosage of 1,000 kg per mu and mix in a small amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.

2. Planting conditions of Adenophora australis

1. Soil conditions

Southern ginseng is suitable for planting in thick, fertile, well-drained sandy loam. The soil requirements are not very strict, but moist and fertile soil is preferred, and the pH value should be between 5.5 and 7. The soil should be kept free of water to prevent root diseases.

2. Climate conditions

Adenophora australis has strong adaptability and prefers warm, cool and sunny climatic conditions. It is shade-tolerant, cold-tolerant and drought-tolerant, but suitable climatic conditions help its growth and development.

3. Altitude

Adenophora australis is better grown in medium and high altitude areas, and the most suitable planting range is between 800 and 1500 meters above sea level. Such an altitude can provide suitable temperature and humidity conditions, which are conducive to the growth of Adenophora australis.

The above is an introduction to the planting methods and conditions of Adenophora australis. Adenophora australis can be harvested 2-3 years after sowing. Dig it out in autumn after the seedlings are felled. Remove the dead branches and fibrous roots after digging it out. Use a bamboo knife to scrape off the skin while it is fresh, wash it, and dry it in the sun or in an oven. It can also be dried until it is 70% to 80% dry, sliced, and then dried in the sun or oven.
