How to propagate blue fescue

How to propagate blue fescue

1. Planting

This method is a relatively simple method. There is no specific time, and the operation can generally be performed from early autumn of one year to late spring of the following year. First of all, you need to prepare the planting soil, which should be slightly fertile, with good drainage and air permeability. Secondly, the sowing spacing should not be too small, and should be slightly larger than the diameter of the blue fescue when it matures. Because although the blue fescue is relatively small when it first grows out, it will grow very quickly after successful sowing. If the spacing is too small, the later management will be very troublesome. After sowing, you need to cover the top of the seeds with a layer of soil, and then wait for the blue fescue seeds to germinate.

2. Planting

This is the fastest method. The time for transplanting is relatively clear, usually in spring, around April every year. One advantage of the transplanting method over the sowing method is that it can preserve its color. The reason for transplanting is one, one is for reproduction, and the other is because its small plants are more vigorous, so the unique blue color can be well displayed. As time goes by, blue fescue will gradually grow outwards, but the middle part will gradually die, so it is necessary to transplant it in time to prevent this phenomenon from happening. Generally, transplanting is required every two to three years.

3. Growth Preferences

1. Lighting

Blue fescue is a plant that loves sunlight. Generally, under sunlight, it can show people the most beautiful blue color, so you can provide blue fescue with appropriate light.

2. Soil

Although blue fescue is a plant that grows on poor and arid soil, it still needs a little moisture and soil with good drainage and ventilation, and a pH value of medium to weak acidity.

3. Fertilization

Blue fescue does not need to be over-fertilized, otherwise it will die. Generally, apply thin fertilizer, but don't apply too frequently.

4. Moisture

Water monitoring should be strengthened in the first year of blue fescue planting because sufficient water is needed for root development. After the roots grow and mature, you don't need to manage the water too much. Just water it once a month and provide enough water.
