How to Plant Hibiscus Seeds

How to Plant Hibiscus Seeds

Container selection

We have already introduced it above as a shrub, and shrubs are likely to grow very tall. For the plant we introduced, it can even grow to three to four meters. Therefore, we can choose those taller containers for planting. There are also some common factors, such as drainage, breathability, etc.

Seed collection

The fruits of this plant usually mature around October, and we can collect them from November to December. After harvesting, we need to refrigerate it at low temperature.

Choice of substrate

This plant does not have high requirements for soil quality, so it is best to choose peat soil. If this kind of soil is hard to find, other soils will also work, just make sure they are not too poor. If you feel that the nutrients in the soil you choose are not particularly sufficient, you can also mix some base fertilizer into it.

Sowing time

Generally speaking, we choose to sow in early spring, around April.

Sowing

First, fill a portion of the substrate into the selected pot. After that, sprinkle the seeds and cover them with a layer of soil. It doesn't need to be too thick, about one centimeter is fine. After evenly covering the soil, the next step is to water it, making sure it is watered thoroughly. Don't water too quickly, though, to avoid disturbing the covering soil.

Precautions

If we sow early, such as in March, then we must take appropriate insulation measures. For example, we can cover it with some plastic film, which can keep warm and moisturize.
