How to water broad-leaved red orchid

How to water broad-leaved red orchid

1. Watering method

Generally speaking, there are two methods to supply water to it: spraying and increasing. Spraying means using a sprayer to spray out some fine mist, and then sprinkle it directly on its leaves, allowing the leaves to absorb it into the plant through the stomata. Humidification actually means increasing the humidity of the air to allow it to be better absorbed. Generally speaking, to increase the humidification, you can increase the water surface, place more water basins under the shelf, and rely on the evaporation of water to increase the humidity in the air.

2. Water quality for watering

Generally speaking, the most suitable water quality is rainwater, because rainwater is relatively natural and clean, a little bit acidic, and contains more nutrients, especially spring rain is the best. Some river water or pond water are usually formed by rainwater, which is very beneficial to its growth, but some polluted river water cannot be used. In addition, if you want to use tap water for watering, you must put it in the water tank for a few days before using it, or you can put some orange peels or apple peels in it, and leave it for a day or two before using it to change the water quality. Remember not to use well water for watering, because the temperature of well water is relatively low, which is not conducive to its growth. Some alkaline water cannot be used either.

3. Timing of watering

Broadleaf Red Gate Orchid prefers an environment that is slightly moist but not too humid, so don’t water it too much. If you water it too much, its roots will not be able to breathe and will eventually die. But it can't be too dry. If it is too dry, there will be a lack of water, which will cause the entire plant to wither, its growth will be restricted, and it may even die. Therefore, watering also depends on the timing. The temperature must be moderate between dryness and moisture, which is its favorite growing environment. Generally speaking, the planting material on the surface of the pot should be dry but not dry, and the small holes under the pot should be moist but not wet. This is the best time to water it. You cannot wait until the soil in the pot is completely dry before watering it, otherwise it will be bad for its growth and development.
