How to propagate white jade

How to propagate white jade

1. Division

Since they grow in groups, they need to be repotted frequently. Then you can also do it together with the division when repotting. You can also choose to dig up the young plants next to the mother plant during its growing season. There are no requirements for how to dig them, because the dug young plants can survive regardless of whether they have roots or not. Seedlings with roots can be planted directly, while seedlings without roots need to be dried in the sun for about a day or two, and then planted after their wounds are completely dry. Be careful not to water the newly planted young plants too much, otherwise it will cause them to rot. Wait for them to grow for a while and grow new roots before carrying out normal maintenance.

2. Leaf cuttings

When doing leaf cuttings, it is best to choose relatively sturdy fleshy leaves, and then insert the fleshy leaves directly into a substrate with good drainage like coarse sand. Then keep the soil in the pot moist. After small buds grow, wait a few days for the buds to grow a little bigger. When they are about two or three centimeters, you can remove them. You still need to dry the wounds in the sun for two or three days before you can plant them elsewhere.

3. Cutting

This method can be used for propagation of plants that are difficult to produce young shoots. Artificially destroy the growth point in the center of the plant, which can promote the germination of young shoots. When the young shoots grow to two to three centimeters, they can be removed. After leaving them for a few days to dry, they can be planted in the culture soil. Note that the soil should not be too moist, just keep it semi-dry. New roots will grow in two to three weeks.

4. Sowing

This method is also the most traditional method, which requires artificial pollination. Sowing is generally done in the morning when the plant is in bloom and the weather is very good. First, two jade plants that are blooming at the same time should be selected. The requirements for the parents are to choose a relatively compact plant shape, with highly transparent and full leaves, and then pollination can be carried out.
