How to grow ice lantern jade in winter

How to grow ice lantern jade in winter

About Lighting

Succulent plants are not suitable for exposure to strong light, and the Ice Lantern Jade is no exception. Even in the cold winter, it should be placed in semi-shaded conditions with suitable temperature and humidity.

About watering

Ice Lantern Jade is suitable for conditions where the soil is 80% dry and 20% wet. It is a drought-resistant succulent and does not need to be watered unless it is very dry. It should be watered thoroughly after it dries up. At the same time, care should be taken to avoid water accumulation. It is best to place it in an environment with good drainage.

About temperature

The suitable growth temperature of Ice Lantern Jade is between 15℃-28℃. The temperature outdoors in winter is generally low. During this period, it is in a dormant state. When the temperature is below 5℃, it should be moved to a place with suitable temperature. At this temperature, its leaves are very easy to frostbite.

About humidity

Succulent plants need to maintain a certain humidity so that their leaves will be plump and beautiful. The surrounding environment will be relatively dry in the cold winter, and the dormant Ice Lantern Jade can be sprayed with humidification when the temperature is suitable in winter.

About fertilization

The Ice Lantern Jade does not grow in a dormant state and does not need to be fertilized in winter.

Other considerations

1. During the maintenance of Ice Lantern Jade, avoid rain in the southern regions. Rain will inevitably cause the soil to be too moist, which can easily cause root rot.

2. Although the Ice Lantern Jade is in a dormant state in winter, it is not suitable to keep it in a dry state for a long time. Long-term drought will make the Jade look lifeless.

3. Due to the characteristics of Ice Lantern Jade, it is easy to make the soil acidic. It is generally recommended to repot it before winter to avoid root damage. During the repotting process, you can remove the aging roots and shorten the roots that are too long, leaving the white and thick new roots, and then use new soil to cultivate it.
