Taboos of growing yellow orchid in winter

Be careful not to damage the roots when transplanting

The time for planting is generally in early winter when the leaves fall. During the transplanting process, in order to make them easier to survive, their roots need to carry some soil, and special attention should be paid not to damage the roots. Before we dig up the roots, it is best to cut off some of the branches and leaves to reduce water evaporation from the plants after transplanting. Apply decomposed organic fertilizer into the transplanting hole and then cover it with a layer of soil. The purpose is to separate its roots from fertilizer to prevent root erosion. Don't forget to water the plants thoroughly after planting.

Don't place it outdoors when it's cold

A well-lit location is ideal for growing. When placed indoors, it should not be placed in a shady place, it is best to place it on the windowsill. It is not cold-resistant, and the minimum temperature suitable for its growth is 5 degrees. Take anti-cold measures in winter and it is recommended to move it into a flower shed or indoors. A warm environment can make it bloom earlier, so you can enjoy the beauty of the flowers earlier.

Do not choose concentrated fertilizer when applying fertilizer

Do not choose concentrated fertilizers, you can use diluted and decomposed human feces and urine. It is best to fertilize yellow orchid twice a year, once in winter and once after the flowers bloom. Watering needs to depend on the situation. More watering is needed in the morning and less watering is needed on cloudy days. In winter, yellow orchid needs less water. It is recommended to water it once when the soil is a little dry. In spring, yellow orchid is in its growth period and needs a lot of water. Water it twice a month and remember to water it thoroughly. You can have more in summer and less in autumn.

Don't overhaul in winter

It is not suitable to prune the branches of yellow orchid in winter. Pruning is generally done in autumn before leaves fall and in spring before buds emerge. The healing ability of yellow orchid branches is not strong, so major pruning is not required. It only needs to prune the dry old branches and dense branches to facilitate the growth of healthy branches. Another thing you need to pay attention to is whether the yellow orchid is infested with insects, and take timely measures to prevent and control diseases and insects.
