How to Make Red Gentian Bloom for Christmas

How to Make Red Gentian Bloom for Christmas

Real flowering period

This red gentian normally blooms from around October of each year to around February of the following year, so if you plant more of it, you can enjoy it for about four months. During this period, whether you place it in a flower bed, a flower mirror, or simply in a flower pot for viewing, it is a good choice. Their colors are not particularly gaudy, but blooming in the withered yellow winter is already very eye-catching. And they look rather plain, a tranquility which is very rare in the withered cold wind.

Key points for maintenance during flowering period

Fertilization

Since the flowering period of this flower already includes the Christmas period, there is no need to specially adjust their flowering period to achieve the purpose of making them bloom at Christmas. As long as they are normally maintained during this period, there will be no problem. They prefer black soil. Red gentian grown in black soil does not even need top dressing. However, if it is in the seedling stage, you must pay attention to the issue of fertilization. At the beginning, you must use certain basic fertilizers to supplement them with sufficient nutrients, so that the seedlings with poor absorption ability can absorb nutrients.

Prevent spot blight

This is a common disease in them, which basically appears before October. If it is not handled properly during this period, it is likely to affect flowering later. At the beginning, circular spots will appear, and you should start paying attention at this time, otherwise it will be easy for the entire leaves to die in the later stage, and even cause the entire plant to wither. If this disease has already occurred, use an appropriate amount of mancozeb to prevent and control it, and it can also be used interchangeably with carbendazim.
