How to treat rust spots on the leaves of Ficus microcarpa? Can they be restored?

1. Causes of rust spots

The rust spots on the leaves of Ficus microcarpa may be caused by high temperature and humidity, especially between March to June and October to November in southern China, which is the peak period of the disease. Some diseases will survive the winter with the plants and harm their growth in the second year. In the early stage of the disease, there will be fingernail-sized spots on the leaves. In the later stage, they will gradually expand and finally cover the entire leaves. They will turn brown and curl.

2. Treatment

Once rust spots appear on its leaves, they will never recover and cannot be changed back. The diseased leaves should be removed in time to avoid further infection. If the disease is serious, the diseased parts should be cut off, the soil and pots should be changed, and the plants should be thoroughly disinfected. Disinfect and then re-maintain.

3. Prevention measures

During management, the leaves should be wiped frequently with clean water to keep them clean. The potting soil should be breathable and water-permeable, and not too sticky. Watering should not be too frequent and the humidity must not be too high, especially no water accumulation. If the soil is found wet, loosen it more to accelerate evaporation. In high temperature environments, ventilation should be strengthened, and the air in the place where the plants are placed should always be circulating, so that it is not easy to be infected by diseases and pests. In addition, please note that once the disease is discovered, spray the pesticide as soon as possible to treat it.
