How to cultivate Dendrobium

How to cultivate Dendrobium

Light and temperature

Dendrobium needs to be placed in a place with sufficient light, but avoid direct sunlight. For example, you can place it under the windowsill or on the coffee table in the living room. Its most suitable growth temperature is about 15-30℃, it is best not to exceed 35 degrees Celsius, and the minimum should not be lower than 5 degrees Celsius.

Moisture and humidity

When the moisture content of Dendrobium drops to about 30%-40 %, it needs to be watered. Generally, water the plants every 2-3 days in summer, and water them thoroughly each time; water the plants once every week in spring and autumn, and water them thoroughly each time; and water the plants every ten days in winter, and water them halfway each time. It is more suitable for a high humidity environment, preferably 60%-80% humidity, and the humidity must not be lower than 30%. Its potted plant requires a special Dendrobium substrate, and caregivers should not add potting soil on their own.

Fertilizer and ventilation

Fertilize according to its own growth conditions. When the growth of the stems and leaves of Dendrobium orchid shows signs of weakness, it is necessary to add nutrient solution and dilute it with water. The dilution ratio is 1:1000, that is, after every 0.5 grams is mixed with half a liter of water, just wet the leaf surface, and there is no need to wet the substrate. It should be maintained in a well-ventilated environment to ensure the oxygen content in the air.

Pest and weed control

Weeds, mosses and other competitive plants in the soil of the Dendrobium pot should be removed. And be careful of various insects, rats and other diseases.
