Taboos on growing gerbera in winter

Taboos on growing gerbera in winter

The temperature should not be too low

It is not a cold-resistant plant and will go dormant when the temperature is between 12 and 15 degrees in winter. It can tolerate 0 degrees for a short period of time, but if it blooms in winter, the daytime temperature must be kept between 20 and 25 degrees, and the nighttime temperature must be kept above 15 degrees.

There must be enough sunlight

In winter, you should place it in a sunny place. It is a light-loving plant. Except for the strong light in summer, it needs full-day sunlight in other seasons to grow more healthily and luxuriantly. This is also one of the important factors for its beautiful flowering.

Watering depends on the situation

Some gerberas can bloom if the temperature is maintained between 20 and 25 degrees in winter. At this time, they need to be watered appropriately and the soil in the pot should not be too dry, otherwise the color of the flowers will be dull. If they enter dormancy, watering should be reduced, or just a little water should be given. Do not water blindly in one way. If there is rain or snow, stop watering to prevent the soil from remaining wet for a long time, which will endanger the health of the plants.

Ventilation is also essential

In winter, especially in the north, indoor ventilation is poor, which is not good for plants. So try to choose a place with good air circulation when placing it.

If there is no dormancy, continue to fertilize

If the plant is flowering or continuing to grow, fertilize it every 10 days.
