How to grow rhododendron at home

How to grow rhododendron at home

Soil selection

Choose sandy soil with sufficient nutrients, and the soil thickness must be more than 30 cm.

Temperature requirements

In winter, it can tolerate temperatures as low as minus 2 degrees Celsius, so it should be moved indoors to avoid frostbite on the plants; in summer, the temperature is too high, which is also very bad for the plants, so try to place them in a place with good air circulation.

Water requirements

Whether watering is needed can be judged according to the condition of the soil. If the upper layer of the soil is completely dry, it proves that watering is necessary, and it should be watered enough at one time until water flows out of the water holes. However, watering should be reduced in summer. The temperature is high in summer. If the soil remains moist for a long time, it is easy for plants to develop diseases.

Fertilizer application

Apply base fertilizer before planting, and then apply fertilizer again after the roots have grown soundly. Fertilizer should also be applied when the flowers just bloom. There should be no water accumulation after fertilization. Try to reduce fertilization or stop fertilizing directly on rainy days.

Change the soil every 2 to 3 years

It is not suitable for Rhododendron to be planted in the same soil all the time. The soil should be changed at least once every three years, otherwise its growth will become weaker and weaker. When changing the soil, you can plant it in pots according to the size of its roots, which is also convenient for daily maintenance. Changing the soil is something that must be experienced when raising it, so friends must not be lazy.
