How to spend the winter indoors?

Wisteria grown indoors is generally potted wisteria. The advantage of potted plants is that they are easy to move. Therefore, if you let wisteria spend the winter indoors, you should move the pot to a cool place and keep the room temperature where the wisteria is placed not too high. Because wisteria needs to fully hibernate in winter, excessively high temperatures will cause it to wake up prematurely, consume nutrients, and be unable to store more "energy", thus affecting the quality and density of the flowers in the second year.

How to spend the winter outdoors?

If wisteria is planted in the south where the outdoor temperature rarely drops below zero, place it in a sunny but wind-sheltered corner. If conditions permit, you can bury the entire flower pot in the ground and wrap the branches with airtight plastic cloth to prevent wind.

If wisteria is planted in the north, the best way to preserve it is to move the outdoor wisteria to an unheated room, or place it in a room with low temperature such as a north-facing balcony. On the one hand, it prevents the outdoor temperature from being too low and freezing the wisteria. On the other hand, it also prevents the heating from being too hot in the northern winter and waking up the hibernating wisteria.

If the conditions for moving the plants indoors are not available in the north, you can also follow the example of the south and bury the pots in the soil to maintain the temperature of the pots, then spread plastic film on the ground and cover them with straw, soil, etc. to keep them warm. The branches also need to be wrapped with straw, plastic film, etc. to maintain the temperature. Generally speaking, the temperature for storing wisteria in winter should be between 5 degrees Celsius and minus 5 degrees Celsius.
