How to transplant sweet alyssum

Preparation before transplanting sweet alyssum

Choose a flower pot with good drainage and air permeability for transplanting.

The following types of potting soil can be selected: garden soil: slag = 3:1; or garden soil: medium-coarse river sand: sawdust (vegetable residue) = 4:1:2; or one of paddy soil, pond mud, or leaf mold.

Or peat + perlite + expanded clay = 2 parts + 2 parts + 1 part; garden soil + slag = 3 parts + 1 part; peat + slag + expanded clay = 2 parts + 2 parts + 1 part; sawdust + vermiculite + medium-coarse river sand = 2 parts + 2 parts + 1 part.

Steps for transplanting sweet alyssum

When potting the young sweet alyssum seedlings, first put a 2 cm thick coarse-grained substrate or expanded clay at the bottom of the pot as a water filter layer, sprinkle a layer of fully decomposed organic fertilizer on it as base fertilizer, about 1-2 cm thick, and then cover it with a layer of substrate, about 1-2 cm thick.

After filling the substrate, dig the planting hole first, sprinkle a layer of organic fertilizer at the bottom of the planting hole as base fertilizer, with a thickness of about 4-6 cm, cover it with a layer of soil and put in the sweet scented plant seedlings, this can separate the fertilizer and the root system to avoid root burn.

After placing the seedlings, fill the surrounding soil to cover the roots, then press the soil firmly with your hands and water it thoroughly.

Management of sweet alyssum after transplanting

Sweet sweet bark is hardy and can tolerate mild frost. It needs to be protected when overwintering outdoors. It likes sunlight and should be placed where it can get sunlight.

Prune heavily before the hot summer and place it in a cool place over the summer, so it will bloom more abundantly in autumn. Generally, after flowering, the lower part of the inflorescence becomes bare. In combination with seed collection, the inflorescence can be cut off from the stem to regenerate new flower spikes. The cut part can be dried slightly and the seeds can be shaken off and collected.

Sweet sweet grass has a long flowering period, so it is necessary to fertilize and water it in time. A thin liquid fertilizer should be applied once every half a month. At the same time, attention should be paid to inter-row cultivation, weeding, and pest and disease control.

As the plant grows, you should change the pot of the sweet sweet bulb in time, gradually changing it to a larger pot, and finally moving it to a 15 cm diameter clay pot. For those overwintering in sunny beds, they should be covered with straw mats at night to prevent cold, and then moved to flower beds when spring comes.
