How to grow Hoya in winter

How to grow Hoya in winter

Winter temperature

First of all, the temperature that Hoya likes most is between 20 and 25 degrees, and the temperature in winter must not be lower than 1 degree, otherwise frostbite will occur, so it must be moved to a warm indoor place in winter.

Winter Sunshine

In summer and autumn, if the temperature permits, it can be grown outdoors as long as it avoids the strong sunlight in the afternoon. In winter, we need to move it indoors, but sunlight is indispensable. If it cannot receive sunlight all day, then at least 3 to 4 hours of sunlight must be ensured every day. If there is no sunlight for a long time, you will not be able to appreciate its charming flowers.

Watering in winter

Starting from autumn, its growth rate will gradually slow down, and the plant will need less and less water, so you need to extend the watering time. Just keep the soil in the pot in a relatively dry state on a daily basis. Watering it about once every half a month is enough.

Fertilization in winter

During the normal growing period, fertilizer should be applied every 15 to 20 days. In winter, not only watering should be reduced, but fertilization should also be reduced, with fertilizer only applied once every 30 to 40 days.

Humidity in winter

Although Hoya prefers a drier environment, it is too dry in winter, so you can sprinkle water around the plant from time to time, which is very beneficial to the growth of the plant.

Finally, let’s talk about the soil for planting. It must be breathable and water-permeable, which is also conducive to maintenance in winter.
