1. Information about lotus

Lotus is a plant of the genus Nelumbo in the family Nelumbo. It is one of the top ten famous flowers in China and is also the national flower of India and Vietnam.

Lotus structure: Lotus consists of rhizomes, leaves, flowers and lotus seeds. Its rhizome grows horizontally, with swollen internodes and whisker-like adventitious roots at the bottom. Its leaves are round in shape and green in color. Its flowers grow at the top of branches and leaves, usually solitary, and come in rich colors including pink, white, red, etc. After flowering, it will produce oval or elliptical nuts containing lotus seeds.

Growth process: After the lotus roots buried in the pond sprout in the mud, the lotus leaves will slowly emerge from the water. At the base of its stem, lotus buds will emerge. After the flower buds grow out of the water, they will slowly bloom when the flowering season comes. After the flowering period is over, its petals will gradually wither and the seeds will appear.

The language of the lotus: "growing out of the mud without being stained, washing in the clear water without being coquettish", refers to the lotus's noble, steadfast, pure and independent qualities. The flower language of different types of lotus is also different. For example, the flower language of silver anemone is losing hope and gradually becoming shallow love, the flower language of purple silver anemone is secret admiration, and the flower language of snow lotus is pure heart.

Varieties of lotus: There are many varieties of lotus. The more common ones in life include peach white, red platform, fairy flowers, jade butterfly, green hair festival, golden phoenix, etc.

2. When does the lotus bloom?

Lotus flowers usually bloom from June to September every year. Due to differences in climate and variety, there will be certain differences in the flowering time of lotus. For example, in the southern part and areas where the temperature rises earlier, the lotus will bloom earlier, while in the north and some areas where the temperature rises slowly, the lotus will bloom relatively later. But under normal circumstances, July to August is the peak flowering period of lotus, and the ornamental value of lotus will be higher during this period.
