How to water the succulent Yamato Kin

How to water the succulent Yamato Kin

1. Habits and characteristics

Before learning how to water, we must understand the growth habits so that we know what its water requirements are. Yamato Nishiki likes a warm climate and a well-ventilated environment. It has high requirements for the soil. It is generally recommended to use peat soil and granular soil in a ratio of 1:1. Such soil is not easy to accumulate water, otherwise its roots will rot. It needs a certain amount of humidity during its growth period, both in the air and the soil, but it cannot be too humid. In winter, Yamato Nishiki needs the least water.

2. Principles of watering

Judging from the living habits of Yamato Nishiki, its watering can be a little more casual. It can withstand continuous drought, but it cannot withstand too much water. Therefore, the principle of watering should be followed as long as the soil is not dry. It is enough to ensure that the soil is slightly moist.

3. Watering Methods

1. Watering method during the growing period. It needs a lot of water during the growing period so that it can grow better. At this time, it is necessary to water once a week, but when the soil is about to dry out or is half dry, it must be watered thoroughly. Be sure not to let the soil in the pot be too moist, otherwise it will affect its root development and even cause root rot!

2. Watering methods in summer. The temperature is high in summer, so watering should be done in the evening to prevent the leaves of Yamato Nishiki from being burned. After watering, attention should be paid to ventilation to prevent water accumulation. When the temperature reaches above 30 degrees Celsius, you can basically stop watering, because at this time the Yamato Jin will be in a dormant state due to the high temperature, and watering will disrupt its growth pattern.

3. Watering methods in winter. The Yamato Nishiki plant does not need much water in winter. You can water it on cooler days. The amount of water should be enough to moisten the topsoil. Generally, water once or twice throughout the winter and try to keep the soil in the pot dry. When the air is particularly dry, you can choose to spray water into the surrounding air, but never spray water on the leaves to prevent leaf rot.
