How to reproduce hairy starfish

How to reproduce hairy starfish

1. Seed propagation

The time is generally chosen in spring. Before sowing, you must first choose soil suitable for the survival of hairy starfish. It is usually made of perlite and slag, and some charcoal can also be added. The culture soil made in this way is not only fertile but also has excellent water permeability. However, it should be noted that the culture soil must be disinfected before use. The bacteria in the sterilized culture soil are killed, which effectively prevents them from harming the seeds. The seeds of hairy starfish are sown into the treated soil at a depth of about 3 cm, and then covered with a layer of clean charcoal soil. This will keep the seeds warm without affecting air permeability. Then water it, make sure it is thoroughly watered, and then just wait for it to sprout! After the seeds sprout, you can increase the light slightly. When the seedlings grow slowly, you can switch to a larger pot for cultivation.

2. Division propagation

First take the hairy starfish out of the flowerpot, clean it, and use a sharp blade or scissors to cut off the underground rhizomes connecting its leaves. Each plant can be divided into 2-3 plants. Don't divide it too much to ensure that the whole plant is balanced and even. After dividing, prune them and remove any rotten roots. It is best to apply some charcoal powder on the cut of the hairy starfish for disinfection, and then you can plant it after treatment.

3. Beheading and breeding

The prerequisite is that the plants to be sown must be very healthy and must be very mature. The first step is to disinfect the blade to be used, otherwise the bacteria on the blade will cause the incision to be infected. It is also best not to use scissors, because scissors will squeeze and damage the stem. The position for beheading must be chosen carefully, and the position where the distance between the leaves is large and the stem is exposed should be chosen. Then place the cut part in a place where the sun cannot reach it and dry it for a week to half a month, or when you see that it has begun to take root, you can plant it in the soil.

Now you know how they reproduce, right? Why don’t you plant a few more pots as soon as possible?
