When should I repot calamus?

The best time to repot

If you are already an experienced flower-growing expert, you can automatically ignore the five words "the most suitable season". You believe that changing pots is not a problem no matter what season it is. But novices should pay attention, as winter and summer are not suitable seasons. Because calamus is a hibernating plant, it stops growing in winter, and repotting can easily cause the plant to die. Summer is too hot and humid, and for the water-loving calamus, repotting at this time is tantamount to cutting off its water source, and it will soon dry up and die due to lack of water. Therefore, it is recommended that you choose a relatively stable and suitable climate environment in spring or autumn.

Compared with autumn, April in spring seems to be better. The growth rate of calamus at this time is also faster. It is in the growth period and has vigorous vitality. Changing the growth environment of your calamus at this time will not only reduce the risk of drying up, but also be beneficial to its later growth.

Repotting method

Take the calamus out of the original flowerpot and gently shake off the soil around the roots until the entire rhizome is exposed. Then spread a layer of base fertilizer on the bottom of the flowerpot and cover it with soil. It is recommended to replace it with a larger flowerpot, which is more conducive to the root growth of calamus. The last step is to transplant the calamus in and water it. Next, just wait quietly for the calamus to grow quickly in the new environment.
